Like I need more to worry about
I was reading the news today at work and found out that there is a planned protest in Mexico at the border tomorrow, and the US will be closing the freeway at 8:30 AM. The protest is expected to last up to six hours. We were planning driving to Mexico around 2PM. Even if the road is opened, there will probably be a huge backup and wait. So tomorrow we'll just have to watch the news and try to time it so we cross the border at the best time.

Can you cross at Otay and avoid the TJ border?
I thought about that, but if everbody has the same idea, it will also back up, plus we'd still need to drive in Mexico near the Tijuana crossing which could also be congested.
The protest in Mexico is over and the freeway is opening soon! I've got beer on ice and am ready to go.
