To get to Las Vegas from Flagstaff, I took the road across Hoover Dam. I hadn't been to the dam for over 20, if not 25 years. As you approach the dam, you pass through a police check-point, to make sure your car is not loaded with explosives. The road still takes you right over the Hoover Dam, because the bypass bridge is not yet finished. What they have constructed so far is very impressive, but it is clear that there is lots more work to do before the new bridge is open.
